After a strong showing in last year’s Tour des Fjords, the time will yet again try to bring home the jersey that matches their suits best; the yellow leader’s jersey.
Swedish education for Americans
After some unknown main sponsor suddenly pulled of their deal, it left Jonathan Vaughters and his men without financial security. The solution came all the way from Sweden and with EF Education First onboard, the finance was secured. With the finance in check, the men can focus on what they’re good at; cycling. Victories in Liège – Bastogne – Liège, Il Lombardia and Tour de France proves that the team can win the biggest races. In bright pink team suits, it will be easy to notice EF Education First – Drapac p/b Cannondale in the peloton.
Debuting in Tour des Fjords, Aqua Blue Sport, lines up in Norway for the first time. The Irish team, in purple suits with gold accents, wants to establish themselves at the top of international cycling. Established ahead of the 2017 season, the team has already competed in races such as La Fléche Wallonne, Tour de Suisse and Vuelta a España. In both Tour de Suisse and Vuelta a España, the team managed to win stages. With higher goals for the 2018 season, we can expect to see a team doing their best to win the prices most fitting to their suits.
More than 10 riders have been through the Team Joker Icopal talent development system, amongst them Edvald Boasson Hagen and Alexander Kristoff. For several years Team Joker Icopal has been Norway’s premier continental team, but ahead of this season one of the founding fathers, Gino van Oudenhove, sought new challenges elsewhere. It will be interesting to if they can keep their position in Norway and keep releasing Norwegians into the professional world of cycling. The fight for Norwegian primacy will be hard-fought and exciting to watch.
